You think I would learn my lesson! 3.0t Oil Consumption

Our new to us, 2018 3.0t (supercharged) is consuming oil just like our 2013 Q5 3.0t. The first month it was a qt of oil every other tank of gas, and now it is almost every tank before the stupid low oil warning it up. As through as you try to be when car shopping this is just a issue you can't easily spot like a oil leak. What I will say is that exhaust certainly has a oil burning smell to it there is just no cloud of smoke showing in the day time. If you are shopping, make sure to give that exhaust a good smell post test drive. 

It being about 2 months I have a theories, I might be completely wrong but work with me. I believe the oil level sensor is under reporting. When I did the first oil change and the oil level said full in MMI, I extracted nearly 8qts. Not massively overfilled but still too much. It should just around 7.2qts. I think the oil level sensor partially fail some time ago cause false reading and the previous owner were likely mistakenly overfilling. At this point too much oil has cause carbon build up, which cause piston ring issues, and likely the PCV system is toast. 

As I've already done the core stuff like a air filter and spark plugs, this is going to be one of those throw parts at it until things are better. Now I've tested running the oil level low to see if that slows the oil consumption down, and it does a little, but I think things are too far gone. Anyone will tell you the first thing you tackle is the PCV system for disappearing old. As this really isn't too different from the Q5 not going to go into detail on the process. 

​Fast forward a week post PCV replacement guess what light showed again... and yes we topped off the oil. Clearly it wasn't just a PCV issue but far more. This kind of confirming my theory we are now battling carbon issue specifically around piston rings. There is simple way too much blow by happening. ​Pull the spark plug and this is what they look like 2 month old. All soaked in oil.

Now I am already running Valvoline Restore & Protect and yes I could wait 3-4 months and a few more oil changes to allow it to clean, but I'm going through a shocking amount of oil. Below is the inside of cylinder 6 and she be crusty. I will post back with the results of the soak.
