New Timing Belt & Thermostat
If you haven't done the timing belt before on your S4 but read how large of a job it is... it's no joke. Soooo much stuff to move out of the way. Basically everything on the front of the card minus the inner coolers needed to be removed. Erik from I.P.M. Auto Service again helped me out a ton. Let's be honest I was more of his assistant on this job (like I normally am). Messing with anything in regards to the engine's timing is not something I wanted to learn the wrong way.
Anyway, once we got the old timing belt off we replaced the thermostat which has likely been stuck open for 1-2 years. The car always takes a while to warm up but, really thought nothing of it (fail on my part). Next, we replaced the belt tensioner and one of the pulleys (can't remember the correct name, but was pain to get out). Put on the new belts and put everything back together. Replaced the coolant and fixed a small power steering leak (needed a new hose clamp). Once the front end was back on it was time to fire her back up. Prior to all this fun I was lucky to hit normal temps within 20-30 mins, but now the engine was warming up in 1/4 the time as it should. S4 is running pretty darn good right now minus a few minor oil leaks, so hopefully it stays that way... but we all know that won't last.
