Well we had a threat of snow this past weekend. Only 1-3 inches, but for the Seattle, WA area that considered a good amount. Sadly we only got a dusting and icy roads. Very lame that I could not take the S4 out in the powder and have a little fun. I can say that I'm very impressed how long my Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires have held up. I'm on my fourth season with them and they still look new with tons of tread left. Don't get me wrong they aren't crazy ice mastering tires like Bridgestone Blizzaks, but for a Performance Winter Tire they really do a great job on all surfaces when temps get low.
On a side note, cold temps are showing how bad my front control arms have gotten. The car sounds like a old man getting up when I go over speed bumps or make a turn at slow speeds. Car is starting to wonder more and more... meaning it's harder to keep it in a straight line (aka tracking issues).
I'm thinking about getting this front control arm kit from ECS. I know it's not OE parts, but it $250 or $1500 for OE stuff.
Also, if my tax return is big enough Coilovers may be in the near future. I've been eye the Solo Werks Coilovers for a few months now. Near stock ride quality and $499... hard to pass that up. As much as I would love to track this car, my credit card balance says not a chance. So I I think these would be a great refresh for a very old stock suspension and lower it (not slam it) to give it a improved stance. At this point there has only been a few review of these new coilovers so hopefully positive info keeps rolling in.
Happy Holidays all!
